How to explore Dimensions and Action Suggestions
Use the Actions tab to identify your team's priority areas and discover curated ideas for improvement.
The Dimensions & Action Suggestions feature is your starting point in the ACT Module. It automatically analyses your closed survey results and presents your strongest and weakest dimensions, along with a library of expert-curated ideas to help you take action, all without having to dig through the data yourself.
Getting to the Actions tab
From your main survey dashboard, click on the 'Actions' tab.The Actions tab will load your Dimensions table and Action Suggestions based on your most recent closed survey results.
Reading the Dimensions table
The Dimensions table shows all the categories (dimensions) from your survey, ranked to help you prioritise. For each dimension you will see:
- The dimension name — the specific theme or category the questions covered, such as Leadership, Teamwork, or Wellbeing.
- Team favourability score — the aggregated score for that dimension, based on the responses from your selected units.
- Change from previous survey — a visual indicator showing whether the score has improved (green arrow up), declined (red arrow down), or stayed the same (grey), compared to the last survey in the same project.
Two highlights at the top of the table deserve particular attention:
Top dimension to improve
This is your biggest opportunity area — where focused effort is likely to have the most significant positive impact. This is the recommended starting point for your first action plan.
Top dimension to celebrate
This is your team's or organisation's greatest strength. Recognising and understanding what is driving this success is just as important as addressing areas for improvement.
Exploring Action Suggestions
Once you have identified your focus areas, scroll down to the Action Suggestions section. This is a library of practical, science-backed ideas developed by EngageRocket's People Science team.
- Suggestions are organised under the dimensions they relate to — so you can quickly find ideas relevant to the area you want to improve.
- The list is automatically sorted to show suggestions for your weakest dimensions first, so the most critical areas are always at the top.
- Each suggestion includes a description of the recommended action and the reasoning behind it.
💡 Good to know: You do not have to use the suggestions as-is. They are designed as a head start, you can adapt them to fit your team's specific context or use them as inspiration for a completely custom action plan.
Switching between Admin and Unit Head views
If you have admin-level access, you can toggle between two perspectives using the 'Viewing as' dropdown at the top of the Actions tab:
Viewing as Admin
Suggestions and dimension scores are based on the overall organisation's results, or filtered to a specific group you select. This gives you a high-level, strategic view of where the organisation needs to focus.
Viewing as Unit Head
Suggestions are automatically filtered to show what is most relevant for a specific team. This is the view managers use to get targeted ideas they can implement directly with their people.
💡 Filtering: You can apply filters in the Actions tab — for example, filtering to a specific department or unit — to see dimension scores and suggestions relevant to that group only. The action suggestions will update automatically based on your filter selection.
Something not working?
- The Actions tab is empty or shows no dimensions — Confirm that a survey has closed and results are available. The ACT Module pulls its data from closed survey results — it does not work with live or draft surveys.
- I do not see a 'Viewing as' dropdown — This toggle is only available to users with admin-level access. If you only have Unit Head access, you will see your team's view by default.
- The dimension scores look different from what I see on the main dashboard — Check your filter selection on the Actions tab. A filter may be applied that is narrowing the data to a specific group.
