ACT Module Permissions and How to Enable It
Understand who can access the ACT Module, what each permission level allows, and how to get it set up for your team.
⚠️ Who is this article for? This guide is for Entity Admins who manage user permissions in EngageRocket. If you cannot see the Actions tab on your dashboard, your ACT subscription may not be active or your permissions may not be configured yet — read on to find out what to do.
The ACT Module requires both an active subscription and the correct permission settings to work properly. This article explains the available permission levels, what each one allows, and how to configure them.
💡 Not seeing the Actions tab? The ACT Module is not automatically available to all EngageRocket accounts — it requires an active ACT subscription. Contact your Customer Success Manager to confirm it is enabled for your workspace. Once enabled, the Actions tab will appear on the dashboard for all users who have been granted the appropriate permissions.
ACT Module Permission Levels
ACT Module permissions are managed through the Entity Permissions page, under the Survey Permissions tab. There are four permission settings — two for admins and HR leaders who need an organisation-wide view, and two for managers and team leaders who need access to their own team only.
- View all action plans — the user can see all action suggestions and action plans across the entire organisation. Ideal for HR leaders who need a strategic, company-wide view. Read-only — cannot create or edit plans.
- Edit all action plans — the user can view, create, update, and delete action plans across the entire organisation. Recommended for HR leaders and senior admins who need full control.
- View own action plans — the user can see action suggestions and action plans for their specific team only. Read-only — cannot create or edit plans.
- Edit own action plans — the user can view, create, update, and delete action plans for their own team only. This is the recommended setting for all people managers — it empowers them to act directly on their team's feedback.
💡 Best practice: Make sure all people managers have Edit own action plans permission enabled. Real, meaningful change happens when managers are equipped and accountable for acting on their team's specific feedback — view-only permission limits their ability to do this.
How to Configure ACT Module Permissions
Configuring ACT permissions takes just a few steps. Navigate to Entity Permissions from the top navigation bar and click on the Survey Permissions tab. Click Edit other permissions, then find the ACT Module permission settings in the Dashboard Permissions section. Select the appropriate permission level for each role — View or Edit, for all plans or own plans only — then click Save Changes. Permissions apply immediately.

Who Sees What — A Quick Summary
- Entity Admin with "View all action plans" or "Edit all action plans" — sees action suggestions and plans for all units across the organisation.
- Unit Head with "View own action plans" or "Edit own action plans" — sees action suggestions and plans for their assigned units and child units only.

Something Not Working?
The Actions tab is not visible even after permissions are set.
- Likely cause: The ACT subscription may not be active for your workspace — permissions alone will not make the tab appear if the module is not enabled.
- Action: Contact your Customer Success Manager to confirm the ACT subscription is active.
A manager can see action plans but cannot create or edit them.
- Likely cause: They have View-only permission.
- Action: Update their ACT Module permission to Edit own action plans in the Survey Permissions tab under Entity Permissions.
An admin can only see their own team's action plans, not the full organisation.
- Likely cause: Their permission is set to View own action plans or Edit own action plans.
- Action: Update this to View all action plans or Edit all action plans for the broader organisation-wide view.
