How to Check What Permissions You Have in EngageRocket

This article helps you identify your current access level in EngageRocket by reading what you can see and do in the platform, without needing to contact anyone first.

⚠️ Who is this article for? This guide is for all EngageRocket users who want to understand what permissions they have been granted. If you believe your permissions are incorrect or missing, contact your Entity Admin to review and update them.

EngageRocket does not have a single page that lists all your permissions in one place. Instead, your access level is reflected directly in what you can see and do inside the platform. This article shows you how to read those signals.

💡 Where to start: Check your navigation menu first — the tabs visible to you are the clearest and fastest indicator of your permission level.

What your navigation menu tells you about your permissions

The tabs and sections visible in your navigation menu are the most reliable signal of your access level. Use the guide below to identify where you sit.

  • You can see Survey Projects, Employees, and Entity Permissions You have full admin-level access. You can manage surveys, employees, users, and permissions across the platform.

  • You can see Survey Projects but not Employees or Entity Permissions You have survey-related permissions but not admin access to user management or employee data.

  • You can only see the Dashboard You have dashboard-only access. You can view results for your assigned unit but cannot manage surveys or users. This is the standard Unit Head access level.

  • The Survey Projects tab is not visible at all You have no survey permissions enabled. Contact your Entity Admin to request the appropriate access for your role.

What your dashboard tells you about your data permissions

The scope of data visible on your dashboard tells you which data permission has been assigned to your account.

If you can see results for the whole organisation, you have View all respondents data permission. If you can only see your own team's results, you have View own team's data permission. If the Hotspots tab is visible on your dashboard, you have been granted access to that specific feature.

How to confirm your exact permissions with your Entity Admin

If you need certainty beyond what the navigation and dashboard tell you, ask your Entity Admin to check the Entity & Employee Permissions and Survey Permissions tabs for your account. They can see exactly which permissions are enabled for your role and update them if needed.

💡 Good to know: If you have been assigned multiple roles in EngageRocket, you inherit the combined permissions of all your roles. The highest permission level from any of your assigned roles will apply across the platform.

Something Not Working?

I can see a tab but cannot perform actions within it.

  • Likely cause: You have View permission for that area but not Edit permission.
  • Action: Ask your Entity Admin to check whether you need the Edit version of that permission enabled for your role.

I had access to something before but it has now disappeared.

  • Likely cause: Your role may have been updated, removed, or reassigned.
  • Action: Check with your Entity Admin to confirm whether your permissions have been changed and ask them to restore access if needed.

⚠️ Important: Only your Entity Admin can view, assign, or update permissions in EngageRocket. If you are unsure who your Entity Admin is, check with your HR or IT team.
