ACT Module permissions and how to enable it
Understand who can access the ACT Module, what each permission level allows, and how to get it set up.
The ACT Module requires both an active subscription and the correct permission settings to work properly. This article explains the available permission levels and what to do if the module is not yet visible for your team.
Is the ACT Module enabled for your account?
The ACT Module is not automatically available to all EngageRocket accounts, it requires an active ACT subscription. You will know it is enabled if you can see the 'Actions' tab on your main survey dashboard.
💡 Not seeing the Actions tab? Contact your Customer Success Manager to confirm that the ACT Module is enabled for your workspace. Once enabled, the Actions tab will appear on the dashboard for all users who have been granted the appropriate permissions.
ACT Module permission levels
ACT Module permissions are managed through the Entity Permissions page, under the Survey Permissions tab. There are four permission settings, two for admins and HR leaders, and two for managers and team leaders.
|
Permission |
What it does |
|
View all action plans |
The user can see all action suggestions and action plans across the entire organisation. Ideal for HR leaders who need a strategic, company-wide view of all initiatives. Read-only — cannot create or edit plans. |
|
Edit all action plans |
The user can view, create, update, and delete action plans across the entire organisation. Recommended for HR leaders and senior admins who need full control. |
|
View own action plans |
The user can see action suggestions and action plans for their specific team only. Ideal for managers who need relevant information without access to other teams' data. Read-only. |
|
Edit own action plans |
The user can view, create, update, and delete action plans for their own team only. This is the recommended setting for all people managers — it empowers them to act on their team's feedback directly. |
💡 Best practice: Make sure all people managers have 'Edit own action plans' permission enabled. Real, meaningful change happens when managers are equipped and accountable for acting on their team's specific feedback, View-only permission limits their ability to do this.
How to configure ACT Module permissions
- Navigate to Entity Permissions from the top navigation bar.
- Click on the 'Survey Permissions' tab.
- Click 'Edit other permissions'.
- Find the ACT Module permission settings in the Dashboard Permissions section.
- Select the appropriate permission level for each role — View or Edit, for all plans or own plans only.
- Click 'Save Changes'. Permissions apply immediately.
Something not working?
- The Actions tab is not visible even after permissions are set — Confirm the ACT subscription is active for your workspace. Permissions alone will not make the tab appear if the module is not enabled. Contact your Customer Success Manager.
- A manager can see action plans but cannot create or edit them — They have View-only permission. Update their ACT Module permission to 'Edit own action plans' in the Entity Permissions settings.
- An admin can only see their own team's action plans — Their ACT permission is set to 'View own action plans' or 'Edit own action plans'. Update this to 'View all action plans' or 'Edit all action plans' for the broader view.
