  3. Languages required

  4. Rating scale

  5. Confidentiality threshold

Survey Frequency

A one-off survey is one that will only take place once. Usually used for an ad hoc opinion survey.
A continuous survey will recur every week, month, or quarter. Usually used for an engagement pulse survey.

For continuous surveys, you can decide how often you’d like the survey to be sent out. For example, a monthly survey means a new cycle of surveys will automatically be sent out every month unless you choose to manually pause or stop it.

EngageRocket provides 3 frequency options for you to choose from: Weekly, Monthly, and Quarterly. This allows you to set the desired frequency and then have the peace of mind that it will run accordingly, automatically. However, if you wish to change the frequency, you can also do so at any time under the Survey Records page.

The great thing about running a continuous survey is that the data will be trended over time. This allows you to track the sentiment of your employees and identify patterns or trends over different periods of time.

Pro Tip: If you are considering a continuous survey, identify the operational rhythm within your organization and time your survey in accordance with it. For example, if your organization runs quarterly town halls or all-hands meetings, we'd recommend choosing the quarterly frequency for your pulse survey. This allows you to easily weave in the survey as part of Business-As-Usual (BAU) instead of as a stand-alone exercise that requires special attention and budget. Additionally, it is also easier to allocate some time during the town hall or all-hands meeting to communicate the results back to your employees.

Rating Scale
Depending on your survey needs and preferences, you can set the scale anywhere from 0-10. Simply click on the edit scale to choose the starting and end point of your scale. You can also choose to edit the label of your scale here.

Pro Tip: EngageRocket recommends a 5-point Likert scale due to the presence of a mid-point (aka "3") Survey respondents might truly feel neutral about a given topic, and presenting to these respondents a scale without a neutral midpoint (aka 6-point scale) can introduce respondent bias.

Do note that you can only use one type of scale for each survey to ensure consistency of data collected but if you’d like to incorporate other types of questions such as multiple choice, this can be done in the next step of the survey setup.

Confidentiality Threshold

The confidentiality threshold is the minimum number of responses required to display survey results. For example, if the confidentiality threshold is set to 3, this means that if only two responses are submitted, then survey results will not be displayed to protect the confidentiality of survey participants. We recommend a minimum of 3 responses to ensure data integrity. This is especially so if you are running an employee engagement survey.
